Between April 27 and 29, The Star in Frisco (world headquarters for the Dallas Cowboys) is the spot to satisfy your football fix for a three-day event hosted like only America’s Team can. This will be the first draft for the Cowboys to be headquartered at The Star, so expect their first draft party in Frisco to be like no other and further proof that nobody delivers an outside-the-box experience quite like America’s Team. You can find details for all events HERE.
Thursday Festivities at the Ford Center at the Star begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with the first pick in the draft to be announced by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell at 7:00. The Cowboys don’t pick until 28th in the first round, a selection which won’t come for several hours, but there are ample activities to make this event worthwhile for all who head to Frisco. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will be performing and several current Cowboys will be signing autographs. Fans will also enjoy interviews with prominent front-office personnel who play key roles in the Dallas draft. A performance by the Cowboys drumline will also be on the docket Thursday evening in addition to a live feed of the NFL Draft broadcast on ESPN. Plus, fans get to see live auditions for the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Review Dancers.
Friday features longtime Cowboy radio voice Brad Sham hosting a roundtable discussion with current players alongside Dallas’ first-round pick from Thursday evening and several other pertinent parties.
On Saturday the inaugural Dallas Cowboys Draft Day 5K, a 3.1-mile race will be run in and around the Cowboys complex.
In addition to plenty of free attractions and games, there will be special player appearances and various inflatable attractions for kids all weekend. Most likely the greatest thing about this family-friendly three-day event (other than being amidst the excitement of the draft) is that admission and parking in any of the open lots surrounding Ford Center are free.
