There’s nothing more classic than a white Christmas, but winter in Texas doesn’t always mean snow will fall during the holidays. Thankfully, with a little help from technology, here’s where you can find snow and ice this season throughout Dallas-Fort Worth.
November 17, 2017 – January 7, 2018
Take advantage of the cooler weather and round up the whole family to enjoy all of the rides at Six Flags Over Texas and the enchantment of Holiday in the Park. You’ll find tons of interactive activities like sliding down Frosty’s Snow Hill made with real snow! While you’re there, watch Lone Star Lights, a festive choreographed light show; shop and taste your way through the Merry Marketplace; gaze at the Holiday Tree of Trees and enjoy a variety of musical performances from area bands and chorales.
November 10, 2017 – January 1, 2018
Even though a parka is provided, you’ll still need to bundle up to experience ICE!® at the Gaylord Texan. Walk through a 9-degree menagerie of life-size scenes from this year’s theme, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. There’s no shortage of ice here. You can slide down ice slides, tube down snow hills, skate on the outdoor ice rink and even have a snowball fight at Santa’s Snow Throw! There’s also no shortage of activities. Don’t miss: photos with Santa, Santa’s Christmas Cottage Escape Room, Cookies with Mrs. Claus, Build-A-Bear Workshop, tons of food and so much more!
November 17, 2017 – January 15, 2018
Visit Fort Worth’s only outdoor ice skating rink any day of the week (even on holidays) from its opening on November 17, to the day it closes on January 15. It’s the perfect activity for the whole family—especially when you’re stuffed with turkey on Thanksgiving or looking to get out of the house on Christmas Day. Skates are provided with admission. Be sure to check out discounts including military and half-price “Cheap Skate Tuesdays.”
November 21, 2017 – January 7, 2018
Want to master the art of packing and throwing a killer snowball? Head to Fair Park for Holiday Wonder and get your chance at snowball target practice in their Snowball Throw! Want more snowy fun? Slide down Santa’s Arctic Slide then take a stroll down the Snowflake Corridor as you see thousands of suspended snowflakes—transporting you to a magical wonderful winter land! At Holiday Wonder, you can also view the Christmas tree, visit Santa, marvel at the over 2 million lights, watch world-class acrobatics shows, enjoy holiday food favorites and write letters to Santa.
November 23, 2017 – December 31, 2017
This year, Grand Prairie’s Prairie Lights has added a new attraction to their much loved holiday experience: a snow maze! You are invited by the resident snowmen to experience their magical winter world and marvel at the new, dazzling displays of winter wonder. This is the place to get in the holiday spirit with drive-through lights, a holiday village, photos with Santa and a lighted walk through of the “Magic Forest.”
November 24, 2017 – December 31, 2017
Enchant not only boasts the world’s largest Christmas Light Maze, but it’s taking the ice skating experience to a whole new level where you can skate on a real frozen pond. And if you’re hoping for a white Christmas, watch as Enchant becomes a magical wonderland with snow. Other activities worth checking out include the Enchant Christmas Market with the Texas Chriskindl Lane, a kids’ mini maze, nightly live music, food trucks and more.
November 24, 2017 – December 31, 2017
It will be snowing all season long at the Frisco Square. Come see the spectacular light show, where every 15 minutes on Fridays and Saturdays, you can stand in flurries brought to you by the very same snow machines used by Disney. Stay awhile to shop, take a carriage ride and skate at their outdoor ice rink!
