If you’re a Dallas native, you know that this place is a staple. They’ve been serving up the best C&W in Dallas for several years now, and better yet, they’re family-owned and operated! Chef Jonathan himself and his sweet wife run two locations, both on Beckley. I seriously recommend Jonathan’s to everyone, and (fun fact) this is actually the place that inspired me to start my food blogging journey! Another fun fact: The original Jonathan’s Diner used to be an old army house, but they salvaged it. You’ll want to bring your stretchy pants when you eat here, because after devouring the fluffiest, most flavorful waffles and yummiest fried chicken of your life, you’re going to need them!
Pro Tip: If you want to avoid the rush at Jonathan’s Diner OG location (in Oak Cliff), you’ll want to swing by between 3-4 PM on the weekend or before 10 AM on a weekday.
Man oh man, where do I even start? I absolutely LOVE White Rhino! They currently have three locations: Cedar Hill, The Oaks and Waxahachie (which is my favorite). The Waxahachie location has a full-blown kitchen, and their food is absoloutely amazing. It’s 100% worth the drive! White Rhino is more than your average coffee shop — When I dine here, I feel like I’m at home. Plus, their fried chicken and fluffy waffle is delicious! Their chef, Casey, has a gift. No doubt about it. Keep an eye out for White Rhino’s Bishop Arts location, coming soon!
If you don’t know already, Press Waffle Co. was recently featured on Shark Tank…and won! They have expanded since (all the way to Oklahoma City, to be exact), and it’s been so exciting to watch. This local joint is owned by two brothers and is definitely at the top of my list for C&W! You can find them at Legacy Food Hall in Plano or Food Hall at Crockett Row in Fort Worth. They’re fast, so don’t worry about lines at the food hall. Just get there ASAP and add all the toppings!
Okay, okay, I know what your thinking — “But…this is a biscuit place?”. It IS, but they’ve created their own Chicken and Waffle biscuit and it’s freaking amazing! The Biscuit Bar blessed us in 2018 by opening their first location at Plano’s Boardwalk at Granite Park, and now they’ve made their way down to the SMU area. Look for “Chicken & Not-a-Waffle” on their menu, thank me later. This drool-worthy dish is southern fried chicken and biscuit french toast. Drizzle their maple syrup all over it and it’s a (gosh darn delicious) party!
This local hotspot is so cute and so vintage! Brewed has been in Fort Worth for seven years now, and it’s a total gem. Go ahead and look at the menu, but I’ll tell you what you need to get — The Mac N’ Cheese Chicken Waffle. Yep, I said that! Don’t ask, just trust me and order this. Brewed also has a newly opened location in Bishop Arts, Brewed LTD. Although you can’t get the whole shebang here, you’re still able to get a waffle and enjoy delicious coffee. When you stop by the Fort Worth location, be sure to pop around the corner (after chowing down on their delicious C&W) to take a picture with a cute “Love the Fort” mural!
