Whether they’re classic, modern, stacked, dreamy, creamy or boozy, these are the best milkshakes in DFW.
What kind of shake do you want?
It’s not ice cream. It’s custard. And this Dallas staple, Wild About Harry’s, serves up their shakes in combinations not commonly found around these parts. Take The Goodman, for example. It combines vanilla custard with pineapples, strawberries and bananas for an unhealthy (and delicious) smoothie of sorts.
Beth Marie’s has a flavor list about a mile long. And once you finally choose a flavor, you’ll need to decide what to do with it! A simple milkshake should do the trick. If you want a truly classic experience, head to the original Beth Marie’s in Denton (located in a building built in 1876).
If you know what you’re doing, you’ll head to Kincaid’s for a burger, some crinkle-cut fries and an old fashioned shake or malt made with Texan Blue Bell ice cream in chocolate, vanilla or strawberry. Whether you’re at their location in Arlington, Fort Worth or Southlake, this classic combo is sure to hit the spot.
MILKSHAKES FROM YOUR DREAMS
Sprinkles Ice Cream is the underrated little sister to Sprinkles Cupcakes, if you ask me. (Nobody does, but I’m gonna tell everyone I can anyway). The ice cream Sprinkles makes and serves up in Dallas is simple and yet so purely perfect, and then they go and blend it with a cupcake just to make you think you’ve died and gone to milkshake heaven.
SHAKES THAT GET DOUBLE-TAKES
Despite the Harry Potter reference to decidedly non-magical humans, this shop serves up some of the most magical-looking shakes in DFW. Mermaids, s’mores, cotton candy, stacks of cakes, even conchas and flan have topped these creations. And if you can’t decide, they offer flights as well so you can try a whole bunch.
SHAKES YOU CAN SPIKE
Banana & Baileys after a long day? Yeah, that’ll do just fine. Visit the OG location in Deep Ellum, or sip on one of their delicoius spiked shakes at locations throughout DFW. Fun fact: Even Guy Fieri loves Twisted Root (featured on the second season of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives).
