Here is one of my favorite haunts. This homey bar serves up traditional bar fare with a heaving side of live music on Fridays and Saturdays. The Dallas and the Frisco locations boast bountiful beer options, including the following faves:
2. KOOL KEG
Situated in the heart of Arlington, this quaint bar and store is a one-stop shop for frozen margaritas, growlers and craft brews. Kool Keg is also the perfect pre-game destination for Texas Rangers baseball. While you’re here, check out one of the following brews:
Speaking of growlers, this establishment fancies itself Dallas’ “filling station” for jugs of delicious local beer. Thanks to their tasty menu (try the “Jucy Lucille,” and thank me later) and strong options on tap, you can’t go wrong with Craft & Growler. Here are a few of their brews:
This chain has locations all over DFW, but there’s something about that Fort Worth flair that makes this one my favorite. Maybe it’s the movie nights, or the Cowtown craft beers that are part of the 200+ brews available here. Either way, when you visit this taproom-turned-tavern, here are a few of my recommendations:
My appreciation of wonderful Waxahachie is well-documented. Film nerds like me flock to this gem every year to see where filmmakers shot key scenes for Places in the Heart, and once there, they discover the city’s can’t-miss downtown scene. While you’re in Waxahachie, check out the aptly titled Plaid Turtle, a lovable little draft house with beers like:
6. EAST SIDE
And if nothing else, you probably know by now that I love Denton. East Side is an entertaining establish mere footsteps from the Downtown Square.
