Yep, it’s true! Back in 1971, Mariano Martinez of Mariano’s Hacienda in East Dallas repurposed a soft serve ice cream machine into a frozen margarita machine, dubbing it “The World’s First Frozen Margarita Machine.” In fact, the machine is now on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington D.C.
It all makes sense now, doesn’t it? There’s a reason us Dallasites love our margaritas—it’s in our blood! I recently discovered an awesome new app created by Visit Dallas called Margarita Mile. The Margarita Mile is “a collection of the best and brightest margaritas in the city, conveniently located in a colorful app,” and boy, is it ever.
After playing around with the app, I’ve found some great places that weren’t yet on my radar, so the Margarita Mile has been a win, win! Speaking of winning: As you check off spots within the app, you’ll win prizes! Not only am I discovering awesome margaritas, I’ve already earned a Margarita Mile magnet, so thank you very much!
Here is a sneak peek of what I’ve been sipping on:
- Meso Maya: De La Casa Margarita
- La Ventana: La Ventana Margarita
- El Fenix: The “Original” El Fenix Margarita
- Cafe Herrera: The Maximo Margarita
