The city offers endless fun for visitors, and it’s a must-see destination for all things music, food, sports and culture. This September is a perfect example of all Denton has to offer and you have three weekends to choose from.
SATURDAY » SEPTEMBER 21 & 28
The University of North Texas kicks off its football season with a games against University of Texas at San Antonio and University of Houston. Thanks to the DCTA and the DART, you can travel from Dallas to Denton for just a few dollars, then peruse the local breweries, restaurants and hot spots in Denton before going to the game that night. I recommend hitting up Armadillo Ale Works, which offers tours of their endlessly delicious and decadent brewery every Saturday.

The annual Arts & Autos Extravaganza is a fan favorite for many reason. First, for all you auto enthusiasts out there, it’s a great day to view classic and custom cars in addition to motorbikes. Dozens of old-fashioned cars will line Main Street for your enjoyment. Second, Arts & Autos is also the perfect time to enjoy local art and live music — all while playing games with friends and family. Oh, and did I mention it’s FREE?

This Quakertown Park party perfectly captures Denton’s cool vibes. Every year, jazz musicians from across North Texas and the U.S. converge in Denton to play a two-day fest hosted by the Denton Black Chamber of Commerce. It’s a family-friendly event complete with games and activities for kids of all ages, so join jazz lovers and Dentonites for a weekend in the park that would make Chicago envious.
