Summer fun in DFW is in full swing, and what better way to entertain the kids than attending a family-friendly movie under the stars? Grab your lawn chairs or get your tickets to the best seats around for these kid-friendly outdoor movie experiences.
1. DIVE-IN MOVIES AT SIX FLAGS HURRICANE HARBOR
Take the movie experience outdoors. Better yet, to the Six Flags Hurricane Harbor pool! Cool down in the water and look out for this summer’s blockbuster movie lineup through August 10. Movies include Coco, Elf, Sharknado and more. Click here for the movies dates and time.
Other summer dive-in movie events in the area include: Summer Dive-In Movies at Frisco Water Park and Dive-In Movie Night at Irving’s Cimmaron Recreation Center— both are free and taking place on August 3.
2. MOVIES ON THE SQUARE
Carrollton’s Movies on the Square offer a perfect evening cool-down for the whole family this summer—absolutely free. Dine out at one of the many great downtown restaurants like Babe’s Chicken, Canne Rosso or Cuban La Dulceria and then enjoy a screening of Coco on August 11. Prefer to picnic? Coolers are permitted, so you can do that too! Click here for more information.
3. COYOTE DRIVE-IN
Summer blockbusters are always a must, and one of our favorite ways to experience the movies is a good ol’ fashioned drive-in. With locations in both Lewisville and Fort Worth, Coyote Drive-In offers much more than those we remember back in the day including a kids play area and concessions complete with delicious meals, movie snacks and even a bar. It’s a great deal, too; you’ll pay one ticket price for two movies. Click here to get your tickets.

4. MOVIES IN THE PARK
I love visiting Haggard Park in downtown Plano because there are plenty of shaded areas and they always show great movies here. Catch Coco on July 22, or A Wrinkle In Time on August 25, just in time before the kids go back to school. Movies in the Park is free to the public. Click here for more information.
5. MOVIES ON THE BEACH
Movies on the Beach at Loyd Park in Grand Prairie has become one of our family’s traditions the past two summers. The beach vibes and activities before each movie offer such a cool summer experience. Come to Loyd park for summer classic movies like Willy-Wonka and the Chocolate Factory on July 28, and my favorite Jumanji (1995) August 25. There is a $10 vehicle entry fee to the park. Click here for more information.
