When I travel, the first thing I search for is great coffee. If the shop is aesthetically pleasing and the coffee is good, I’m SOLD. Coffee fuels my creativity and I’m geniunely intruiged by the different ways you can roast it, brew it, serve it, make it, dress it, you name it.
I also firmly believe that a cup of joe brings people together, even in new cities. We all know that Texas brings the summer heat, but lucky for us, DFW has several coffee shops with delicious iced coffee!
Come for the amazing cup of joe, stay for the mani/pedi. Yes, I said what I said! This Dallas gem is a salon AND coffee shop, but you don’t have to have services done to enjoy a cup of joe. Think of Verbenas as a little speakeasy bar…business in the front, party in the back! Don’t worry about the fumes from the salon, because everything is non-toxic and fume-free. Walking into Verbenas was like a breath of fresh air for me, from the coffee to the magnetic energy the owner had (hi, Ashley!).
Not only does the social house take pride in their roast, which is locally sourced by Eiland Coffee Roasters in Garland, but everything is also organic and healthy. PRO TIP: order the iced latte with oat milk. It’s a game changer! And if you need to wake up, like, yesterday, americano over ice with oat milk is the drink for you.
If you’re an OG Dallasite, you already know that CocoAndre is the bomb…but I want everyone else to know, too, so let’s spill the tea! CocoAndre is located in the beautiful Bishop Arts District (my favorite neighborhood in Dallas). The mother and daughter duo behind CocoAndre whip up a mean espresso roast, and these boss chocolatier babes travel as far as Chiapas, Mexico, for their specific roast. Need a PM pick me up? A cool down? Just want to ad some spice and culture to your life? Order their Dirty Horchata with homemade almond milk, and thank me later! Fun fact about CocoAndre: Everything is 100% plant-based. I’m in love!
A little speakeasy coffee shop in Fort Worth? It’s a dream come true, literally! One of Ampersand’s owners happens to be an old friend of mine, and I’m so happy to see things up and running for them. At Ampersand’s shop in West 7th, you can come in for coffee in the AM, then return in the evening and head to the back room for a fancy coffee cocktail. Yep, that’s right — On Friday and Saturday nights, this coffee shop’s back room becomes a nightclub! Genius, I know.
If you’re visiting Ampersand in the morning (before the party starts), be sure to grab their Iced Rose Latte. After dark, order their cocktail “The Weekend”, packed with Patron and cold brew. Whether you’re in need of a coffeehouse or speakeasy, this hidden gem is 100% worth checking out!
Y’all, I swear by this place. They currently have three locations (and are working on a fourth), but their shop in Waxahachie is hands down my favorite. The owners renovated a historic, two-story home and turned it into one of the most beautiful coffeehouses I’ve ever laid eyes on! When I need to relax and getaway, I enjoy coming here to work and simply get in “the zone”. Go to White Rhino, pack your laptop or bring your bestie, order their cold brew (or lavendar iced coffee) and thank me later. If you go after reading this, please send me pics! They also have a full kitchen, so definitely order some grub while you’re there — It’s delicious.
Australia has always been at the top of my “places to visit” list, but I haven’t been yet. Fortunately, I’m still able to get a little taste of the land down under by visiting the Aussie Grind in Frisco! It’s owned by the cuteset couple who came all the way from Austraila and brough a chunk of home (Brisbane, to be exact) with them to Texas. Not only was I blown away by the unique and tasty food they serve, but I was also a huge fan of their iced coffee! They use Full City Rooster, and if you know, then you know — they’re an awesome Dallas roaster! It’s hotter than haitus in DFW, so treat yo’self. You deserve an iced vanilla latte from The Aussie Grind!
Located in central Oak Cliff, Peaberry Coffee serves up good ol’ Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters (basically the godfather of roasters here in DFW). Peaberry’s owner, Elijah, welcomes everyone! Kid-friendly, family friendly, study friendly, you name it. Elijah’s positive energy alone is enough to give you that happy pick me up when you get your cup of joe. Trust me on this — You’ll want to order the iced coffee. No cold brew here! Elijah has his own special method for his iced coffee and I love it. Maybe add your favorite creamer and a bit of sugar, but be easy on the extras. This coffee is worth tasting as is!
If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that Pop Top is my favorite place to go when I need to get away from home and focus! Fun fact: Pop Top started serving coffee from a Volkswagen bus at the Ennis Farmer Market in 2014, and has since grown into a locally-loved shop in the heart of downtown Ennis. Every month, Pop Top rotates their beverages, so there’s always something new to try. The shop may be small, but their coffee packs a punch! You’ll want to get the cold brew, but keep it simple and small. This little coffee has all the energy you’ll need to get your day started, or if you’re heading out of town, it’ll get you through the entire drive without a problem!
