Looking for something to give you a run for your money? Head to the races at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie for a family day out! With a convenient location just north of Interstate 30 on Belt Line Road, affordable admission and engaging activities, Lone Star Park offers a fun time for all ages!
My son, Connor loved cheering on the horses, and we even let him bet on one, too. It’s just $2 dollars to place a bet, so it’s a cheap thrill and you never know—you just might get lucky. My bets are always placed based on the horses with the silliest names. Out of the three races, I came out $6 ahead, so I call that a win!
OFF TO THE RACES
Race days take place on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For a complete race schedule click here. Lone Star Park offers one of the best deals in North Texas with $5 general admission tickets, and tickets for children (ages 4-12) are only $3. Plus, general parking is free. On Sundays, senior citizens and military members receive free general admission with a valid ID.
We chose to sit by the track, but you can also choose from box and terrace seating as well. If you prefer an indoor, air-conditioned option, admission to the clubhouse is $8, and reserved seating runs from $9-27. These seats would be great for group events or parties.
No need to purchase tickets in advance for most race days, but I do recommend reserving tickets on big event days (such as Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Breeders’ Cup) and holiday weekends.
LONE STAR PARK PERKS
One of the best perks of the park is the variety of food options. Trust me, your family won’t go hungry here with hotdogs, pizza, burgers and more.
We had an excellent time during our family day out at Lone Star Park. In honor of their 20th anniversary, Lone Star Park is offering fun family events and giveaways. So if you haven’t experienced it for yourself, now’s a great time to take advantage during their Quarter Horse Season.
