Situated in the hip Dallas neighborhood of Bishop Arts District, Emporium Pies is a trendy spot known for their unique take on classic recipes like the Smooth Operator (silky chocolate pie on a pretzel crust), Drop Dead Gorgeous (a fall special featuring pumpkin custard and gingerbread crust) and of course The Lord of Pies (apple pie with crispy cinnamon streusel). Can’t get enough of the Bishop Arts location? You can now visit them at their new Deep Ellum location, order by the slice at Fourteen Eighteen Café in Plano, or order online.
2. JUDY PIES
My family loves the warm and home-like vibe at Judy Pies! They even have a kids corner with toys, story books and a tea set to keep our little ones busy as we indulge in our passion of pies! They have everything from Chocolate Truffle Peanut Butter Pie, Coconut Cream Pie, to Maple Brown Butter Peach Pie. Have dietary restrictions? Don’t let it stop you! Judy Pies also offers gluten free, vegan and paleo options that are just as scrumptious. Click here to view their full menu.
3. NORMA’S CAFE
A favorite for tourists and locals alike, Norma’s Cafe has been in the business of serving home-style meals and desserts since 1956. With a famous motto, “Life is short, eat desserts first”™, Norma’s signature Mile-High Cream Pies™ are always visible as soon as you walk into any of their location. Our favorite one is their Chocolate Peanut-Butter pie (with a sprinkling of meringue!), but their Lemon and Coconut pies are a must-try, too. To view their full menu, click here.
If you have a sweet tooth just like we do, Stir Crazy Baked Goods is a little bit like dessert heaven. Located on Magnolia Avenue, Fort Worth’s foodie hub, the bakery serves house-made cupcakes, cookies, sweet rolls (must try!), savory tarts and quiches, as well as glorious pies! The pie flavors include Apple Cranberry, Sweet Potato and Egg Nog, (December only!) so be sure to plan a morning or afternoon visit here (they have coffee, too). To view their full menu, click here.
When it comes to good ol’ home cooking and Southern delicacies, you can never go wrong with a diner seasoned with more than 55 years of experience. Besides the all-day breakfast items that are served seven days a week, Mama’s Daughters’ Diner is known for their fresh baked pies and desserts. You can choose from cream pies (Coconut, Chocolate, Strawberry, Banana), fruit pies (Apple Crumb), classic Pecan, and diner-made fried pies! Click here to view their full menu.
