Located in the heart of Uptown in Dallas, Playground Bar is exactly what you’re imaging: an adult haven complete with yard games, carpi-suns and your favorite late night snacks. I’m a big fan of the tacos, but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The best part, the taco window is open until 3 AM on the weekends and 2 AM on weekdays.
Not many places can pull off using “WOW!” in their name, but Wow! Donuts and Drips sure can. They’ve been wow-ing the DFW Metroplex (sorry-not-sorry for the pun) with their extravagant donuts, delicious drinks, late hours and overall all amazing aesthetic. How many of you can say your donut does all of that, and does it well? Proceed with caution when going into this Plano donut shop—You might be like me, going in for one donut and leaving with two dozen. Whether you’re finishing a late night of shopping, or need a place to study for finals, they’re open until 10 PM Monday-Saturday and 9 PM on Sunday.
Denton is no stranger to great late night eats thanks to its fantastic music and nightlife scene. If you could only eat at one place in Denton in the late hours of the evening (or early hours of the morning), Dix Coney Island is the spot to choose. They are open 24 hours a day, serving up all your favorites from quesadillas to coney dogs to belgium waffles and everything in between! Dix Coney Island is what I’d label as the perfect spot for a study break.
4. SALSA LIMON
Calling all TCU students and Fort Worthians (is that a thing? Probably not, but go with me here): if you haven’t tried Salsa Limon, you might be living under a rock. Kidding, kidding! But please, do yourself a favor and stop by one of this restaurant’s multiple locations in Fort Worth and order yourself an El Capitan! Depending on the location, they’re open as late as 3 AM on the weekends and 10 PM on weekdays.
Raise your hand if you love pizza. Raise your hand if you love pizza as big as your face. Sound about right? Then you, my friend, are going to love Serious Pizza! Located in Dallas‘ eclectic Deep Ellum neighborhood, Serious Pizza is a staple for the late nights spent after concerts or playing Jenga on the Green Room rooftop. They’re open until 3 AM on the weekends, and 11 PM on weekdays. P.S. They have a very Insta-worthy building front, just ask DallasLoveList.
Pizza, hoagies, breadsticks, oh my! Crooked Crust, another delicious late night eatery in Denton, is the perfect spot to stop by after a night out. If going inside to sit down is too much work for you, you can always swing by the Pickup Window on Hickory St. to grab a slice, or five, to go. They close at 12 AM Sunday through Wednesday, and 3 AM Thursday through Saturday. Pro Tip: If you visit on a weekend, grab a seat by the window and get ready to people-watch—this restaurant is located on Fry Street (UNT student’s stomping ground for bar crawls).
If you’re heading to a Dallas Cowboys game in Arlington anytime soon, be sure to include a stop at Grease Monkey! They offer shuttles to and from Dallas Cowboys home games and offer a variety of specials every night of the week. I’ve been told by a little birdy that the Angry Burger is a must-order! The kitchen also has a delicious late night menu. You can grab bites here until 1 AM on Tuesday through Saturday and ’till 11:30 PM on Monday and Sunday.
Located in Historic Downtown Grapevine, this local favorite serves up great food late into the evening and has live music Wednesday through Sunday! Their special late night menu features staples like wings and french fries. Not much beats a good basket of wings and a cold drink, except listening to live music during your meal! Willhoite’s is open until 2 AM every night of the week.
