HOW TO SAVE ON TICKETS
We walked in and headed straight to the ticket counter, excited to start our Ripley’s adventure. The ticket counter employees were incredibly helpful, so don’t hesitate to ask about must-see attractions or recommendations when you visit! As a single mom, I’m always looking for fun that’s budget-friendly, and I was happy to see that the 5-Way Super Combo had a summertime special of 20% off. Even without the summertime special, the 5-Way Super Combo will save you $51 during your visit. Yes, please!
Pro Tip: If you’re looking for an even better deal, get the Grand Fun Pass — This includes admission to all five of Ripley’s attractions, and Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark! My daughter and I recently visited Epic Waters and had an amazing time. I definitely recommend checking it out!
LOUIS TUSSAUD’S PALACE OF WAX
As we walked into the first Ripley’s attraction, we were welcomed by Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Will Smith and (as I told my daughter), my boyfriends John Cena and Jason Statham. Haha! There are over 200 life-like wax figures in Louis Tussaud’s Palace of Wax, and we had a great time taking pictures of it all. I honestly didn’t think that the Palace of Wax would be this huge!
They have all the up-to-date wax figures, lots of historical figures (including the presidents), Jesus, Marvel superheroes and even the minions. The last part of this attraction is a walk through the life of Jesus, from birth to death, the tomb, and resurrection. You can strike a pose with your favorite superstars and superheroes — or pretend to be on a date with Jason Statham, like I did! My daughter really enjoyed the opportunity to pose with some of the wax figures she loved.
ENCHANTED MIRROR MAZE
My daughter and I had a great time at all the Ripley’s attractions, but this one was our favorite! It has lots of mirrors with LED lighting, which can be really cool for a photo-op. As soon as we walked into the maze, my daughter said, “Let me go alone first”. I did, and the next thing we knew, the LED lights turned on and I lost her in the mirrors!
I thought I could see where she was, but since it was a mirror maze, what I was seeing was the illusion of her. I kept thinking I found her, but it was just her reflection in the mirrors! I kept laughing because she was brave at the beginning of the maze, but when she couldn’t touch me, she said “Mami, don’t leave me alone anymore!”. Finally, I found exactly where she was and we just walked the maze together, laughing as we tried to find our way to the exit. It was a lot of fun, and one of the best things about the Enchanted Mirror Maze is that you can use your ticket to go through it as many times as you want!
RIPLEY’S IMPOSSIBLE LASERACE
This was one of my daughter’s top favorite activities. It was awesome! I usually don’t do things like this with her, but I went through the laserace and really enjoyed it. It was a bit of a challenge — You have to make it from one side of the room to the other without tripping the laser. They had three levels, categorized by easy, medium and hard. My daughter was so competitive, and she basically beat me each time. It was a blast watching her have so much fun!
RIPLEY’S 7D MOVING THEATER
Last but not least, we went to the 7D Moving Theater! Both my daughter and I agreed that this was our second favorite attraction. We finished off the day by visiting this interactive on-rails shooter with seats that move. We shot zombies in one game and tackled Mad Max-like characters in the other. Even though it’s a shooter game, there’s no blood or gore. Fun fact: both games take a picture of you and display them along with your score at the end! It was so much fun, and seeing our pictures on the screen was the perfect touch after a day at Ripley’s.
We didn’t get to experience the Odditorium during this visit, because we spent so much time enjoying the other attractions. We’re definitely planning to go back again and check it out another time! The Odditorium has the largest collection of the odd and unusual, like a shrunken head, the Eiffel Tower made entirely of matchsticks and a pin wall. If you’ve ever read the Ripley’s Believe it or Not! books, you know they’re pros at finding the strangest stuff around. We’ve seen pictures, and the Odditorium is filled with all sorts of crazy items. They even have wax sculptures of the tallest man in the world and the Lizardman!
After experiencing all the attractions, we made our way to the snack cart and I was happy to find that they offered affordable prices. Whether you want an ICEE or a small sandwich, you can find it here. I’d also suggest stopping by the wax hands station, where you can get a wax mold made of your own hands. Such a cool souvenir!
After our day of fun, I decided that Ripley’s in Grand Prairie is a great place for a great mom and daughter date this summer, and all year round. We had an amazing time, and I can’t wait to visit again with my daughter really soon! If you’re visiting Ripley’s for the first time, I’d suggest that you arrive around noon so you have a full afternoon to experience everything. Also, you should know that cameras are allowed throughout the attractions, there’s free parking, and children 3 & under are FREE! Pro Tip: Be sure to look online at their promotions and events to see what offers they currently have, like the 20% off summer special on the 5-Way Super Combo tickets and the new Grand Fun Pass!
