“Morning, Casey! Glad to see you’re in class after the long weekend!” says Kristin Moses, one of my favorite Session Pilates instructors, as I walk into the studio. I’ve been coming to this Dallas pilates studio every Tuesday and Thursday for weeks now, and couldn’t be more proud myself for the early morning dedication!
I quickly check in for class, change into my pilates socks, grab a towel and pole before heading to secure my favorite reformer for class. It’s going to be a good morning, I can feel it.
“Lay down on your beds, with your feet in the long straps. You should have 2 red springs on,” instructs Kristin. Feet in straps is my absolute favorite, so I am here for this.
We go through a series of movements that are mainly all familiar for me, but it took me a few classes to get this comfortable with the cues. Reformer pilates is definitely something that takes a few tries to get used to! I can feel myself start to sweat again and my muscles are a little shaky — Perfect timing for one of my favorite songs to come on the playlist. I start singing the lyrics to Lizzo in my head.
The arms section of class is next, and it’s a heavy one. This is one of the best workouts I’ve ever had at Session, and we’re barely halfway through! I have to modify a few things as we move into core work, but that’s one of the things that makes Session Pilates so great: it’s a class for every fitness range. I get zero judgemental stares as I drop to my knees for some plank work.
“That’s all for today, folks!” exclaims Kristin. “See you all Thursday morning, hope you have a great rest of your day!” And that’s exactly what I plan on doing.
