There’s nothing more classic than a white Christmas, but winter in Texas doesn’t always mean snow will fall during the holidays. Thankfully, with a little help from technology, here’s where you can find snow and ice this season throughout Dallas-Fort Worth.
1. SKATING UNDER THE STARS
November 29, 2019 – January 17, 2020
An outing to Christmas in the Branch is sure to get you in the holiday spirit this season! Stop by the Farmers Branch StarCenter for a night of ice skating under the stars on their outdoor rink. Don’t have skates? No worries—you can rent them there for $5! After zipping around in your skates, end the evening with some holiday magic by taking a walk through the festive lights display in Liberty Plaza.
2. HOLIDAY IN THE PARK AT SIX FLAGS OVER TEXAS
November 23, 2019 – January 1, 2020
Take advantage of the cooler weather and round up the whole family to enjoy all of the rides at Six Flags Over Texas and the enchantment of Holiday in the Park. You’ll find tons of interactive activities like sliding down Frosty’s Snow Hill made with real snow! While you’re there, watch Lone Star Lights, a festive choreographed light show; shop and taste your way through the Merry Marketplace; gaze at the Holiday Tree of Trees and enjoy a variety of musical performances from area bands and chorales.
3. ICE!® AT THE GAYLORD TEXAN
November 18, 2019 – January 5, 2020
Even though a parka is provided, you’ll still need to bundle up to experience ICE!® at the Gaylord Texan. Walk through a 9-degree menagerie of life-size ice-sculpture scenes from this year’s theme, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. There’s no shortage of ice here. There’s also no shortage of snowy fun during the Gaylord Texan’s Lone Star Christmas—you can slide down ice slides, tube down snow hills, and even skate on the outdoor ice rink! Get 50% off your tickets to ICE!® when you buy tickets online and use promo code MAGIC!
4. PANTHER ISLAND ICE
November 22, 2019 – January 20, 2020
Visit Fort Worth’s only outdoor ice skating rink any day of the week (even on holidays) from its opening on November 16, to the day it closes on January 14. It’s the perfect activity for the whole family—especially when you’re stuffed with turkey on Thanksgiving or looking to get out of the house on Christmas Day. Skates are provided with admission. Be sure to check out discounts including military and half-price “Cheap Skate Tuesdays.”
5. TEXAS CHRISTKINDL MARKET
November 29, 2019 – January 12, 2020
This Arlington classic will play host to one of the largest outdoor ice rinks in Dallas-Fort Worth this holiday season. This free, family-friendly market lets you check out a variety of vendors, some with a German flavor! This is a spot you can’t miss in Arlington during the wintertime!
6. CHRISTMAS IN THE SQUARE
November 29, 2019 – December 31, 2019
It will be snowing all season long at the Frisco Square. Come see the spectacular light show, where every 15 minutes on Fridays and Saturdays, you can stand in flurries brought to you by the very same snow machines used by Disney. Stay awhile to shop, take a carriage ride and skate at their outdoor ice rink!
