TASTE BUDS KITCHEN
“How cute is this kitchen?!” I squeal as I walk into Taste Buds Kitchen with a pack of Austin Eastciders in hand. I can’t get over the green and white aesthetics of the kitchen space. It’s going to be the perfect girls night, I can feel it.
We’re greeted with a smile and welcomed into the space. Check in for the class takes two seconds, such a relief — I’m ready to crack open a cider and find my apron! The tables are set up for four people, which is perfect for our group of girls (or a double date night in Southlake. Next time!). We chat for a few minutes while we wait for the rest of the class to arrive.
“Y’all, I am a terrible cook,” admits Laura.
“At least we don’t have to do any dishes!” I exclaim. “Cheers to a unique girls night out with my favorite ladies.”
And just like that, it’s time to start class. First things first, we meet everyone in class. Nothing like a little old fashion “Hi, my name is Casey and my favorite food is ice cream”. Then we all wash our hands before gathering around for a group demonstration. First course seems easy enough, so we disperse to our own tables.
All of the ingredients have already been measured out for us, which makes our cooking job even easier. We take turns mixing all of the ingredients together while sharing stories about our crazy weeks. This series of events continues as we learn how to make the next few courses: quick demonstration, cooking, drinking and laughing. It’s the recipe for a perfect girls night. We even learn the proper technique for cutting vegetables and how to use a knife. Yes, there’s a specific way! Once all the cooking is done, we watch while the TBK Southlake team cleans up after us.
“How does one go about cooking, without the cleanup, on the reg?” I ask. Everyone giggles and echos my question.
The best part is coming — We can smell it! All of our hard work creating an Italian feast is coming to fruition. We place our creation on plates and cheers to a job well done. Hopefully we don’t cheers too soon. The taste test is about to happen!
After one bite, I have my final verdict: it’s delicious food, and an even better night spent with friends.
