It’s been incredible to see how the city has changed over the years with new growth and exciting new restaurants and attractions. One of the most exciting recent additions is Texas Live! Here’s what you need to eat, see, and do during your next visit to this Arlington hotspot.
At the heart of Texas Live! Is the Live! Arena. Think of this as the sports living room of your dreams. This is where you can watch your favorite teams and players on the 100-foot state-of-the-art LED screen, with more energy and excitement than you find in a typical living room. Gather with friends and cheer on all the local sports teams! Seating is available on both the 1st and 2nd levels. Don’t worry about not being able to see the game — There’s really not a bad seat in the house.
Did you know that the first appearance of stadium nachos appeared at Arlington Stadium in 1976? Now you can enjoy your ballpark nachos at Texas Live! Of course, ballpark nachos aren’t the only food you’ll want to try. Try the Cheeseburger Taco at Guy Fieri’s very first Taco Joint. We know sports fans love wings, so pick up an order of spicy Cauliflower Wings at the Miller Tavern and Beer Garden. My insider tip? Order an Ocho at Troy’s. This burger isn’t on the menu, but is an homage to the great number 8 and all the years he spent playing for the Dallas Cowboys.
3. THE GAMES
Have you ever dreamed of playing chess in your backyard with life sized pieces shaped like cacti? That’s exactly what you can do outside Texas Live! in the Arlington Backyard. This covered event space also features cornhole and oversized Battleship. Once you’re done playing outside, head inside to Sports & Social Arlington where you can play skee-ball, table tennis, shuffleboard, air hockey, old-school arcade games and even virtual golf simulators. Really want to challenge your friends to a competition? Don’t forget to stop by PBR Texas, the largest PBR venue in the country. Hop on one of their two mechanical bulls and see who can last the longest.
4. THE INSTA-WORTHY ATMOSPHERE
The giant lit Texas on the wall inside Texas Live! is one of my favorite places to take a picture, but it isn’t the only photo opp available. Snap a photo in front of the giant Pudge as you walk up the stairs to his restaurant. You can also sit in the giant lawn chair outside or take a photo next to the water fountain.
5. THE DRINKS
Ready for a twist on a classic? How about a Peanut Butter Old Fashioned? You’ll find it at the Miller Tavern and Beer Garden at the heart of Texas Live!, but that isn’t the only bar you’ll find inside. At Texas Live! there are world class beers, specialty margaritas, cocktails and more. Step outside and discover one of two specialty bars, Tequila Sheela. Inside, Texas distillery Balcones opened its very first bar. Balcones serves their made in Texas whiskey along with other cocktails. Looking for a beer that pairs with ice cream? You heard me right. Pudge has recently released his own beer called 13 Gold and it pairs deliciously with ice cream!
6. THE EVENTS
Whether it’s outdoor summer movies, the Christkindl market at the holidays or some great live music, there are always events happening at Texas Live! In fact, they recently celebrated their first Birthday Bash with a weekend filled with birthday cake, live music, a Dallas Cowboys preseason watch party and more. Some events do require a ticket or RSVP, so make sure you check their website for event details.
7. THE HOTEL
The Live! by Loews hotel (right next door to Texas Live!) opened this summer. I haven’t had a chance to stay there, yet, but I’ve been watching it being built and it looks incredible. An infinity pool, ballrooms, green space, restaurants and conference facilities. Perhaps our first chance at experiencing Live! by Loews will be for VisitDFW’s Texas Travel IdeaFest! Have you registered to attend yet? Even if you haven’t, you’ll want to make plans to stay at Live! By Loews. It’s walking distance to AT&T Stadium — the perfect place to stay before a Cowboys game.
