Cruise on the water: Cruise through the Mandalay Canal in Las Colinas or Lake Carolyn on a gondola ride. If you prefer a more active outing, rent a paddle board or take a SUP class with a group of family or friends. The views along the lake are serine and worth a visit to see Irving in a new way.
Play golf: Las Colinas and Irving offer four 18-hole courses for you to choose from. One of the most impressive courses can be found at the Four Seasons Resort and Club, at TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas where the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship was previously held.
Go for a bike ride: Take the family out for an adventure on Campion Trails in Irving, a 22-mile greenbelt that runs along the Elm Fork and West Fork of the Trinity River. This scenic trail is perfect for a bike ride, hike or picnic to enjoy the natural beauty.
FESTIVALS AND EVENTS
Canal Fest: Spend a day along the Mandalay Canal to celebrate the many cultures around the world. With hula and belly dancing, African drummers, magicians, street performers and more, there’s plenty of entertainment to wow you on stage. International cuisines, folk art and street vendors will also be there to show why Irving is the most diverse zip code in the nation. Canal Fest is where you want to be on June 9, from 2 to 10 p.m. Admission is free, and parking is $10.
Children’s Day at the Theater: June 19 is Children’s Day at the Theater presented by Irving Arts Center. Kids ages 6-13 will enjoy the world of the marionette puppet show by the award-winning Texas original group Le Theatre de Marionette. This is a fun time to see the great performers show off their talent, and this show will feature The Wizard of Oz.
Independence Day Parade/ Fireworks Show: The largest Independence Day parade in the city takes place in downtown Irving on July 4 from 9 a.m. to noon. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, come for the festive floats from local business, schools and various community groups. After the parade, head over to Lake Carolyn from 6 to 10 p.m. for live music, food, attractions and activities.
