Little Elm Beach on Lake Lewisville has quickly become one of our family favorite summer destinations. We love building sand castles and swimming, but there are so many other activities to choose from. You’ll find volleyball courts, a playground, hiking/biking trails and much more. If you get thirsty or hungry, Lakefront Grill is located on site to help keep the family fueled.
If you’re a thrill seeker like me, then you have to visit Six Flags Over Texas. Nothing is more refreshing than riding a roller coaster going 50 mph as your feet dangle high above the air. Too much? Don’t worry, there are rides for even the youngest members of your family. They also offer several live entertainment shows featuring your favorite Looney Tunes characters.
Craft time is part of our routine; that’s why we are so excited to see Crayola Experience now open in Plano. Interactive stations allow kids to wrap, design and name their very own crayon. They can also watch their art come to life through augmented reality, melt and mold crayons and so much more.
My favorite place to admire the city of Dallas is at the top of Reunion Tower. It offers a complete 360-degree view of the skyline while providing an interactive experience with touch screens that teach about Dallas’ history and its most iconic buildings. You’re guaranteed to leave in awe and learn something new.
5. DALLAS ZOO
We visit the Dallas Zoo year-round, but in the summer, arriving early is key. One of our favorite spots is the Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo because of the fun splash area. It’s the perfect place to cool down from the heat. Kids play in the water while parents take a break. It’s a win-win.
I enjoy shopping at Galleria Dallas, but what makes this place so unique is the enchanting ice skating rink. What better way to stay cool than on the ice? From now until August 19, you can skate underneath an art installation of 4,000 colorful origami butterflies.
We all grew up going to drive-in movies, so it makes my heart happy to see them throughout the DFW Metroplex. At Coyote Drive-In, each ticket purchase includes a double feature, which means double the fun. You can bring lawn chairs or enjoy the movies from the comfort of your car. Here, you are bound to make some amazing memories under the stars.
What’s summer without a summer getaway? Offering six unique dining experiences, a full-service spa, and a waterpark, it’s no wonder why people flock to Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine. Whether you are traveling from afar or planning a staycation, this resort is not to be missed.
