WELCOME AUGUST WITH A FULL WEEKEND OF FUN
The dog days of summer are in full force, and here in DFW you can always head to the lake, shop ’til you drop or visit a local waterpark to stay cool. Or you can check out one or all five of these events for a fun-filled weekend. Whether you celebrate International Beer Day or watch a movie on Lloyd Park Beach, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Remember to share your weekend photos with #DFWWeekend for a chance to be featured on our social media pages!
Dallas | August 4, 6 p.m.
You don’t have to travel around the world to celebrate International Beer Day! Taste beers from Germany, Ireland, South Africa, Mexico and more during the International Beer Festival on Henderson Avenue, hosted by Dallasites101 and Stay Social Dallas. With your $15 ticket, you’ll get a custom pint glass and international beer specials at all 10 participating bars. Cheers!
Plano | August 4, 5 & 6
The nation’s top competitive women bowlers are going for the gold this weekend! The U.S. Women’s Open began earlier this week in Plano, and things are getting exciting! Catch the final rounds of the competition for $20 or less and read up on the Open before heading to the Plano Super Bowl this weekend.
Irving | August 5 and 6, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Get your game on with 90+ arcade games (all set to free play), a national Super Smash Bros tournament featuring the best players around DFW and the U.S., retro and modern gaming tournaments and more. Be sure to bring cash with you to the Irving Convention Center just in case you spot that elusive game you’ve been looking for at one of the expo’s 85+ vendor tables. Purchase a day pass for $15 or a weekend pass $25. And if you’re under 7, you get in free!
Grand Prairie | August 5, 8:30 p.m.
Your kiddos may have seen the recent remake of this classic ‘80s film, but there’s nothing like watching the original under the Texas sky! Grab your lawn chairs and drive down to Loyd Park Beach for movie night to make this unique outing an end-of-summer tradition. Every Saturday night until September 2, catch a flick like Beauty and the Beast, Back to the Future, and Minions at Loyd Park.
Hurst | August 6, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Vinyl records have a special place in my heart. If you too can appreciate flipping through old records and finding hidden gems, you’ll want to be at the Hurst Conference Center on Sunday. The DFW Record Show is back for their third spin, and they’ll have hundreds of records on sale from local record shops and private collectors.
